Yesterday was the first performance of the piece I’ve been making with soundinitiative over the past few months. I’m very excited about this one as it finally brings together a lot of the things I’ve been working on over the past 10-15 years and is the beginning of a new modular system that sets up a flexible format in the same way as my older #[unassigned] project.
The piece is titled something happens and then something else happens and then all sorts of other things happen and it comprises a set of (currently) 50 states, each of which specifies a particular type of sound or action and can be cued by the players in a similar way to the things to do pieces. The plan is to extend the set of states over time, with each performance being a selection of those available. I’ve made a few more this week already.
The performance took place at CRR93 in Aubervilliers, Paris, with soundinitiative working with Collectif Fabrica, with support from Diaphonique to make the project happen. There will be two more performances by soundinitiative in Dublin on 26 April and Vanves on 25 May.
